Guysborough County has among the strongest wind resources in the Province of Nova Scotia. A large-scale wind-farm is now in the queue for interconnection to the grid and is scheduled to be in service in 2012. This project is to be located in the eastern portion of Guysborough County.

A number of other locations have been mapped and have significant wind resource, including the Strait of Canso and numerous areas are being assessed for potential through the COMFIT program.
