Immigration
Nova Scotia welcomes and embraces immigrants, recognizing the important contributions they make to our social, economic, and cultural fabric . The Guysborough County Regional Development Authority is assisting to deliver this policy in cooperation with the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration using the following four provincial guiding principles:
- Responsible ;
- Community-based, Nova Scotia Approach ;
- Fair and Inclusive ;
- Accountable.
The province has developed a variety of streams, each with their own criteria to assist interested individuals.
Community based is the key to the success of this program. Each of the 13 RDA's in Nova Scotia can recommend nominees who will add social or economic value to their community. The GCRDA has developed criteria to take advantage of the Nova Scotia Immigration Policy‘s Community Identified Stream. To date we have a number of individuals who have been nominated by members of their community and supported in writing to become permanent residents of our county. These individuals have been identified as potential permanent residents by the GCRDA to the province.
