BeachesOur many beaches, which dot a natural, rugged coastline, offer unlimited opportunities for exploring, swimming, or simply relaxing.
Many of our coves and inlets, at one time have been home to famous explorers or have an historic significance attached to them. Relax to the sound of waves as they hit the shoreline, or join them for a refreshing swim. To experience the divine taste of Nova Scotia's shellfish, you might want to try your hand at clam digging. Beaches around the county include:  | Black Duck Cove Day Use Beach Park, Little Dover This wheelchair-accessible beach allows the outdoor enthusiast the opportunity to explore many different ecosystems. Stroll along the man-made boardwalks that weave through wooded and coastal areas, which are home to a wide range of wildlife species. At our beach, ensconced in a sandy cove, you'll find some of the warmest waters on the East Coast-perfect for swimming! The beach is surrounded by summer cottages that hark all the way back to the Commercial Cable Era.

| Fox Island Main, Fox Island In this setting you'll find a beautiful sandy beach, nestled between two hills. This cove offers a remarkable haven for the naturalist seeking the unspoiled beauty of Guysborough County.

| Glasgow Head Beach, Canso This beach offers two entirely different swimming experiences for the outdoor adventurer. Here you'll find a man-made pond, sheltered from the direct coastal waters by a rocked barrier. On the other side of the barrier is a spectacular cove, where the swimmer can enjoy an invigorating dip in the Atlantic Ocean. A sandy knoll, excellent for a picnic, separates these two swimming areas.
